Job Purpose
To perform and supervise engineering work especially fitter and assist in project management tasks involving conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment.
To support the development of 5S and maintenance systems within the plant.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required
Essential
• Previous Experience with
o Hydraulics – theory and practice
o Pneumatics – theory and practice
o Lubrication – theory and practice
o Combustion – theory and practice
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Experience of working with hand tools, both electrical and pneumatic
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications
• Good understanding of health & safety practices within a manufacturing environment
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to deliver end result
• Ability to work to deadlines ensuring quality of end product
• Attention to detail essential
• Formally qualified under City & Guilds standards for Fitter/Technician
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and a flexible approach
• To be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Proven experience within a manufacturing environment
• Strong safety awareness
• Excellent time management skills.

• Treatment plant operator training certificate desirable

Key Results Areas
You will be required to:
• Knowledge & understanding of the technical (design) & operating (production) & system / process aspects of the machine & in the use of new equipment for test & evaluation purposes
• Aware of the impact, say of, lubrication failures or jam-ups might have on other parts of the machine
• The small size of components, particularly electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic ones, call for closely controlled hand skills
• To communicate with team members in production and maintenance on day-to-day issues
• Supports team members in maintenance of site housekeeping standards
• Computerisation of planning for maintenance, use plant history & maintenance records
• Know how to relate product quality & machine performance
• Sharing of skills & knowledge with other craftsmen & machine operators
• Weld efficiently (Electric, gas, tig, etc.)
• Use of workshop equipment e.g. lath, milling machine etc.
• Plumbing and pipe repair
• New techniques / new tools
• Process Control Equipment
• Interface & overcome problems of old & new plant
• Make full use of the information the plant generates via the Process Control Equipment
• Maintain work records & other documents as required
• Manual Work Requests, / Mechanical Work Order / PEMAC System / Shift Reports
• Operate MEWP as requested
• Knowledge of 5S system and location of equipment in stores and operation of stores
• WCM / KPI’s / PM/ AM understanding and participation
• Observe Company Health & Safety procedures. Ensure correct and appropriate PPE is used for the task at hand, and that it is in good condition
• Complete any relevant training for core skills, own role and multi-skilling
• Demonstrate flexibility and team-working in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the overall business
• Completion of safety checks for the tools being used as required
• Document and sign-off daily maintenance checks of plant and equipment
