Impulse Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Driver Recruitment & Compliance Manager for a large company based in D 15
This is a Full Time Permanent position and a great opportunity to join a very strong team
We are looking for a strong, hands-on Driver Recruitment & Compliance Manager to join the Dublin operation.
This is not a desk-based HR role.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working directly with HGV drivers, being present in the yard and dealing with issues as they happen. You must be confident having difficult conversations, challenging poor behaviour and ensuring company standards are followed.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of driver recruitment, conduct and compliance within the Dublin operation.
Responsibilities will include:
- Meeting and dealing directly with drivers on a daily basis.
- Interviewing and assessing potential new drivers.
- Working with the recruitment team to progress suitable candidates quickly.
- Managing driver inductions and ensuring new starters are ready for work.
- Addressing uniform, PPE and presentation standards.
- Challenging unacceptable behaviour or breaches of company rules.
- Dealing with attendance, holidays and other driver issues.
- Conducting disciplinary meetings and difficult conversations where required.
- Managing driver exits and terminations in line with company procedures.
- Maintaining a visible presence in the yard and ensuring standards are maintained.
- Identifying driver shortages and taking action to recruit where required.
- Supporting recruitment campaigns in Ireland and the UK when additional drivers are required.
- Working closely with Transport Management, Planning and HR.
Who We Need
We are looking for someone who is:
- Very confident and assertive
- Comfortable dealing with strong personalities
- Not afraid of confrontation or difficult conversations
- Fair, consistent and able to stand their ground
- Practical rather than overly corporate
- Comfortable spending significant time with drivers and in the yard
- Able to make decisions and follow issues through
- Experienced in transport, logistics, recruitment, HR, operations or people management
Previous experience dealing with HGV drivers would be a major advantage.
You don’t necessarily need to come from a traditional HR background. We are more interested in finding someone with the personality, confidence and management ability to take ownership of the driver workforce.
This role would suit someone from a transport management, fleet, driver management, recruitment, operations, military, security or other people-management background who is accustomed to dealing with challenging situations.
What Success Looks Like
We want someone who knows the drivers, knows what is happening in the yard and deals with problems rather than allowing them to continue.
If standards aren’t being followed, you address it.
If they need drivers, you help get them hired.
If there is a difficult conversation to be had, you are comfortable having it.This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys taking ownership and getting things done.
