Impulse Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Director of Nursing (DON) for a large company based in Co. Galway
Reporting to: Clinical Director
Position Overview:
The Director of Nursing (DON) will assume overall responsibility for the clinical leadership and
strategic direction The DON will lead the nursing team in delivering
exceptional, person-centred care, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of excellence
and continuous improvement in all clinical practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic and clinical leadership to all nursing and care staff, ensuring the highest
standards of care are delivered in accordance with HIQA regulations and best practice.
• Lead the development and implementation of clinical governance frameworks to promote
safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Manage resources efficiently, ensuring the optimal allocation of staffing, equipment, and
materials to maintain a safe, compliant, and compassionate care environment.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of the nursing team, ensuring a
focus on ongoing education and leadership development.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, and the wider healthcare
community, acting as an ambassador for the organization.
• Lead on all HIQA inspections and regulatory reviews, ensuring timely and effective
implementation of any necessary corrective actions.
• Ensure a responsive, open approach to feedback, complaints, and incidents, fostering a culture
of learning and quality improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Registered General Nurse with current NMBI registration.
• A minimum of seven years’ post-registration experience, including at least three years in a
senior leadership position.
• A qualification in healthcare management (minimum QQI Level 6) is required.
• Demonstrated expertise in clinical governance, quality improvement, and regulatory
compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
