This is a full time Permanent position and a fully remote role

Hours will be Shift time: 11.30am-8.00pm, Monday to Friday

Role Overview

The Customs Clearance Broker is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of customs declarations in compliance with Irish Revenue, EU customs regulations, and relevant international trade requirements.
The role involves liaising with customers, carriers, and regulatory authorities to facilitate smooth import and export movements while maintaining high compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities

Customs Declarations & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit import/export declarations via AIS, AES, ICS2 and other relevant systems.
  • Ensure correct tariff classification (HS codes), valuation, origin, duties, VAT, and regulatory checks.
  • Verify documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, proofs of origin, licences, and certificates.
  • Monitor customs status and proactively resolve any queries or holds from Revenue.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a point of contact for customers regarding customs requirements, clearance status, and documentation.
  • Provide guidance to clients on customs procedures, Brexit related requirements, and compliance best practices.‑related requirements, and compliance best practices.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, warehouse teams, and government agencies.

Audit & Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate records for audit trails in line with Irish and EU customs legislation.
  • Support internal audits and compliance monitoring activities.
  • Identify and report any compliance risks, discrepancies, or potential delays.

Operational Excellence

  • Track and manage daily clearance workload to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Provide data and reporting for KPIs such as clearance times, accuracy, and service levels.
  • Support continuous improvement of customs processes and systems.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in customs clearance or international freight operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish Revenue and EU customs regulations.
  • Experience with AIS, AES, ROS, ICS2, or similar customs systems.
  • Proficiency in tariff classification, Incoterms, valuation, and duty/VAT rules.

Desirable

  • Irish Revenue Customs Qualification or similar certification.
  • Experience within logistics, freight forwarding, distribution, or 3PL environments.
  • Knowledge of specialised regimes such as bonded warehousing, inward/outward processing (IPR/OPR), or temporary imports.
