Reporting to: Director of Nursing (DON)
Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) will assume responsibility for providing clinical and managerial
leadership to the nursing and care teams. The CNM will ensure the
highest standards of clinical care, regulatory compliance, and a commitment to continuous
improvement in resident services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, manage, and support the nursing and care teams, ensuring the delivery of safe,
effective, and person-centred care.
• Uphold and ensure compliance with HIQA regulations and other relevant statutory
obligations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor care plans in consultation with residents, their families, and
the multidisciplinary team.
• Conduct staff appraisals and support ongoing professional development through mentorship,
training, and education.
• Ensure effective infection control measures and implement policies to ensure a safe care
environment.
• Manage the staffing roster to ensure adequate clinical coverage and appropriate skill mix at all
times.
• Actively participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident
outcomes.
• Lead on the management of clinical incidents, complaints, and emergencies, ensuring
appropriate documentation and escalation.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Registered General Nurse with a current NMBI registration.
• A minimum of five years’ post-registration experience, with at least two years in a
management or leadership role.
• Proven expertise in gerontological nursing, with a strong commitment to delivering high-
quality care in a long-term care setting.
• A qualification in healthcare management (minimum QQI Level 6) is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
