Environmental Health Officer -EHS

Impulse Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental Health Officer -EHS for a large company based in D 22

This is a Full Time Permanent position and a great opportunity to join a large team

The EHS Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the company will  have a first in class approach to the environment, health and safety and Quality control.

The ideal candidate must have a strong back ground in health and safety as well as be knowledgeable in environmental management, policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and maintaining a high level of H&S compliance on and off site.
  • Responsible for implementation and maintaining current procedures, policies and safe systems of work
  • Case management of all incidents and accidents, liaising closely with the appropriate legal and insurance bodies and keeping senior management updated in a timely manner.
  • Monitor relevant legislative updates, ensuring necessary changes are applied promptly
  • Regularly review and update Company Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures and Safety Statement, communicating updates Company wide
  • Manage and update the Health & Safety plan to achieve and maintain the relevant Health & Safety management system standards.
  • Maintaining a relevant, up to date and comprehensive safety statement for the Group.
  • Maintaining a complete register of method statements and safety risk assessments relating to all aspects of jobs.
  • Delivering Health & Safety induction programs for new employees or contractors working on site
  • Maintain accurate records of training and a training matrix data base.
  • Anticipate and react swiftly to business needs and provide best practice Health & Safety
  • solutions.
  • Update and deliver safety tool box talks for all staff and maintain records of same.
  • Investigate, record and report accidents, incidents and near misses promptly, ensuring any
  • corrective actions are applied without delay & compliance reviewed thereafter.
  • Work with the EPA, HSA, RSA and all relevant public bodies who visit the sites to ensure
  • compliance with all relevant legislation and respond in a professional and timely manner
  • Conduct regular internal environmental audits
  • Conduct environmental testing and complete return to ensure the group complies with
  • environment regulation and the environmental permits
  • Keep up to date with waste industry best practice and other standards in health and safety
  • domains.
  • Developing an in depth understanding of technical processes and methods used throughout
  • company operations.
  • Maintain an up to date register of PPE uniform orders: Ensuring that all relevant employees have
  • appropriate PPE uniform upon commencement with the company.
  • Lead staff training on EHS and Health matters. Assist in the development of Toolbox talks.
  • Promote a culture of safety, health, environmental responsibility, and quality excellence
  • throughout the organization.
  • Experience, Skills & Education:
  • A degree in a Health and Safety is preferable.
  • 3 years + industrial experience, ideally in the Waste industry
  • Demonstrated competence in environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 would be advantageous.
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret technical data, and technical procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of training and a training matrix data base.
