TITLE: Area Manager (UK)  in Ireland

              REPORTING TO:                                            Regional Manager

HOURS OF WORK:                                        35 hours per week (flexibility to work outside these hours is required)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

1.1 Working closely with  Instructors within a pre-determined geographical area; supporting them to fully succeed in their business in line with  instructional and operational qualities and objectives.  

1.2 Through regular visits, individual meetings, and various other means of communication, you will provide hands-on and practical support to the franchisee including mentoring, coaching and training them to ensure they exceed theirs and  agreed short, mid and long term business plans, including working to agree targets for growth and retention.

1.3 You will also review and provide support and guidance in the assessment of franchisee performance by providing suggestions and advice on how franchised Instructors can manage their study centres more productively, whilst resolving any problem areas, assessing market conditions and creating initiatives and strategies to build brand awareness.  

1.4 You will be instructionally proficient in the Method of Learning and support Instructors in their instructional development.

1.5 You will motivate and promote a culture of self-development, encouraging new ideas and initiatives to guarantee the overall success of the franchisee business. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

            2.1                     To fully engage in and successfully complete the Area Manager Training Programme.

2.2 In conjunction with the franchisee, proactively and effectively develop your study centres, ensuring all centres in your geographical area reach and maintain the expected Kumon instructional and operational quality standards, enabling them to meet growth and achievement targets.

2.3 To initiate, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all Instructors, throughout the assigned geographical area.

2.4 To consistently maintain an effective, regular, study centre visit schedule with all franchisees in your assigned geographical area and to provide timely and detailed centre information to franchisees and line manager i.e. current performance levels, proposals and guidance information on improvement areas, as well as detailed strategic improvement and development plans where necessary.

2.5 As well as regular study centre/franchisee visits, you will also be required to engage in all other aspects of study centre activities, including but not limited to conducting student enrolments, attending and providing support to franchisees at their study centre events i.e. award ceremonies and national campaign initiatives.

2.6 You will be accountable and responsible for managing your own geographical area in line with Educational policies, procedures and objectives.

2.7 To develop, present and implement a full area annual strategy and action plan to senior management and ensure objectives are fully met within the agreed timescales.

2.8 To proactively and consistently provide exceptional support and guidance to franchisees. Including, but not limited to, offering them strategies and advice on achieving targets, local advertising options, centre promotion, improving student retention and growing their study centre, etc.

2.9 To be responsible for organising and facilitating training/workshops, presentations and meetings for franchisees meeting the needs of both the franchisee

2.10 To effectively monitor franchisee study centre performance including the conduct of the franchisee, delivery of the Method and use of the Brand and to raise any concerns with the Regional Manager’s attention immediately.

2.11 To operationally manage a centre as an Instructor and/or class assistant, for a period of time or as and when required.

2.12 To liaise closely with other  Associates to develop effective systems and good practice in order to improve study centre development and instructional indices.

2.13 To seek up to date and suitably relevant advice and guidance from other internal teams and or external agencies in order to provide practical guidance and support to franchisees in a variety  of other business areas including but not limited to marketing, human resources, finance, logistics etc.

2.14 To effectively oversee study centre closures and take-overs within your geographical area in conjunction with other relevant internal stakeholders.

2.15 To regularly liaise with the Regional Manager and/or senior management team to identify any issues and concerns regarding study centre development within your geographical area to develop and implement positive change as and when required.

2.16 To be assigned project work as and when required i.e. organising franchisee workshops, meetings and organising and co-ordinating franchisee events on a local and national level such as the franchisee Instructor conference.

2.17 To assist and support franchisees to complete the programmes, through own proficiency in worksheets.

2.18 To work closely with and support franchisees in nurturing high student achievers through to completion of the programme.

            2.19             To work as part of the regional team on all matters in relation to Instructor support.

2.20 To build and maintain your own thorough product knowledge through regular and timely selfcompletion of worksheets and any other relevant training as required.

ATTRIBUTEESSENTIAL  DESIRABLE  
EDUCATIONA bachelor’s degree or equivalent such as  Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (UK) GCSE grade’s B in Maths and English (or equivalent) Fluent in both written and verbal English• Master’s degree

Demonstrable experience of innovation, ability to spot new/different opportunities and or ways of working. Strong presentation and communication skills. Strong negotiation skills. Experience of working to deadlines and managing varied tasks.  Experience of working within a franchising and or educational environment. Understanding the need for budgetary management.

2.25 To carry out all reasonable duties as and when requested by your line manager or any other senior management member.
